Vita Group joins the RENUVA™ Program

The collaboration with Vita Group, Europe's leading provider of flexible polyurethane foam solutions, heralds the next phase of the RENUVA™ Mattress Recycling Program. In this new partnership, Vita Group will start using RENUVA™ polyols - raw materials made from recycled mattress contents - in its production of flexible polyurethane (PU) foams.

With these collaborations, we are closing the loop of discarded mattresses within the RENUVA™ Mattress Recycling Program, which means that with this we have created a circular economy for this PU use. As previously announced, Eco-mobilier will deliver post-consumer PU mattress foam to the production plant operated by Orrion Chemicals Orgaform in France, for the first chemical recycling on an industrial scale. The result of this process will be new polyols, ready for use in foam solutions.

The Vita Group has started using the RENUVA™ polyols at its ICOA production site in Crancey, France, from the beginning of 2021. Vita will also work closely with its customers and mattress brands in the French and European markets to promote the use of the foam for new mattresses and also seek applications in other product areas.

Concrete goals

The RENUVA™ mattress recycling program aims to recycle up to 200,000 mattresses per year in France and help address the problem of landfill and incineration.
