On Thursday, February 2, 2023, the municipality of Terneuzen organized the first local Sustainability Fair in the CO3 Campus Terneuzen. We were also present with our own stand and various colleagues provided answers to many questions from visitors, such as: 'What exactly do you make for products? How are you going to make the factories more sustainable? What exactly does the Roadmap to Zero mean?”
Roadmap to Zero
With more than 1000 visitors, the Sustainability Fair was well attended. At our stand, colleagues Sofie de Groene, Niek van Belzen, Gitta Zijlstra, Sara Vernimmen, Jens Bogaert, Sas Meenken, Cees van Houwelingen, Ciccio Pecoraro and Tim Brouwer told interested parties more about our sustainability projects and initiatives. Much attention was paid to our Roadmap to Zero.
'Ambitious plans'
One of our colleagues who was present, Sofie, saw many interested people passing by. “The fair was well attended, it was very nice to see how much interest there is in sustainability among the residents of the municipality of Terneuzen. Many visitors showed interest in our sustainability initiatives and enjoyed getting an insight into what a large company like Dow is doing in this area. Our carbon reduction goals were seen by many as ambitious and admirable. Plastic granules made from waste also appealed to the imagination and it is still good to show which products we make. Such as the raw materials that other companies use in the energy transition, such as for insulation materials, wind turbines and solar panels.”
In addition to the afternoon program, our colleague Kees Biesheuvel discussed making Zeeland's industry more sustainable in the evening with representatives of Yara and North Sea Port.
Our sustainability journey
This educational event was a great opportunity to include the residents of the municipality of Terneuzen in our sustainability journey. Want to know more about this? Then be sure to read our other stories on this platform. Curious at which other events we are present? An overview can be found here.
